Scaling businesses to sell is my love language. Hear me out: there is no better feeling than when that deal closes, the sellers AND buyers walk away happy and the business transacts for top dollar because the sellers properly scaled it to sell. Today, you’re in luck because I’m sharing my top 5 FREE tools to scale to sell your business for top dollar. So take a read, make sure you’re utilizing all of these tools, and feel free to grab a time on my schedule to talk about how I can help you scale to sell! 1. Asana: My team and I LOVE Asana for its ability to connect us all over a common goal when we’re not in the same room (or even country). Also, remember how everyone used to keep their to-do list on paper? Asana allows your team to collaborate on a project and keep track of its progress all in one place. Asana makes sure the wheels don’t fall off anything and that no detail gets overlooked, allowing your entire team to stay in the loop.
2. Slack: We’ve all seen the commercials but Slack is so popular for a reason: it works! Essentially AOL Instant Messenger for the modern office, Slack allows my team to stay connected when we’re not physically all together. Slack makes it so much easier to run a modern company when people are working from home and not every team member is in the same area. For example, we have around ten employees spread out over 400 acres at one project, so Slack is our modern (quiet) equivalent of a CB radio. Slack gives us an easy, clear way to constantly stay in contact while working. 3. Podcasts: Hear me out on this one. You should devote part of your free time (whether it be driving to and from the office, the time you get ready in the morning, the few moments you have between appointments) listening to podcasts instead of music or the news. Podcasts provide a wealth of knowledge on just about every topic and have become increasingly popular in the business community in recent years. Chances are if there’s someone you want to know more about, you can find a podcast where they’re a guest and learn from them. I love listening to podcasts because I’m constantly able to learn from people I admire and am always able to find time to listen to one. What, specifically, do I listen to? My professional faves include IBBA Insights and The Deal Board and my personal faves include Bethel Church Sermon of the Week and DuoLingo Spanish Podcast. 4. Marco Polo: How often have you found yourself recording a short video to send to someone and show them something, only to forget about the video and the response you never received? (Slowly raises hand.) Marco Polo solves that. Think of Marco Polo like a video walkie talkie: it allows you to send short videos to anyone on your team, explaining things that may require video footage and allows your team members to respond on their own time. Let’s face it, when we’re not all in the same office, we’re all on different schedules. Marco Polo helps overcome everyone’s busy schedules and keeps your team on track to reach their goals with their asynchronous video messaging, allowing me and my team to communicate HUGE chunks of information without compromising productivity. 5. Loom: I love how I can record video “how to’s” for my executive assistants easily with Loom. Just this morning, I created videos on “How to Create a New Customer in QBO,” “How to Send an Invoice,” and “How to Enter a New Customer Folder in GDrive.” Loom allows me to quickly do this and allows the recipients to always have the information, versus days of back and forth on communication and asking questions. Loom also allows me to quickly and efficiently communicate with other team members, like sending my bookkeeper a quick comment of “we personally loaned the business $3,500, please record check #5555 to the balance sheet as a loan,” creating a record for both myself and my bookkeeper. I hope you’ll be able to utilize these free tools as much as my team and I have to scale your business to sell. Want to know more of my favorite free tools or stay in the loop of everything going on?
