6:24am it’s been five or so days since I’ve been off social media. I’m really enjoying the increased peace. Although I’m not sure it’s increased peace so much as it is reduced digital noise. I actually feel like I may have the bandwidth to process what I’m living. Is it possible that social is simply overloading our mental capacities to the point of numbness; being tuned out? Is it so subtle that we don’t even recognize it? Courtney Carver, of Project 333 fame (of which I’m a huge fan), has her book, Soulful Simplicity, on sale this morning for $1.99. After reading the blurb, I knew I needed to buy it. It would be the perfect replacement reading for the morning hours when I’m usually scrolling social!
What hit home for me was the fact that she was diagnosed with MS and made the conscious effort to live a more intentional and more minimalist lifestyle acknowledging that stress is what triggers most MS episodes. I wondered to myself, what if I was diagnosed with MS? Would it be the catalyst I needed to finally stop tolerating my own silly behavior? Are you tolerating silly behavior? If so, what do you think it'll take to inspire you to change? |
